Chak De India" scooped top honours at the "Bollywood Oscars," winning nods for best film, director and actor for its look at how issues of religion, class and gender play out in national sports.
The movie tells the story of a Muslim captain of the Indian field hockey team who leaves the game after being wrongly accused of throwing a World Cup match against Pakistan.
After disappearing for seven years, he returns to coach the Indian women's team, leading them to a World Cup victory of their own.
The script won screenwriter Jaideep Sahni an award for best story, while Shimit Amin took best director and star Shah Rukh Khan best actor.
The film was among a raft of movies showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) that broke away from the splashy musicals that have made Bollywood famous, in favour of tackling tougher issues in formats with a more global appeal.

Well this is what Salman said to a contestant recently! There are married women contestants who are willing to re-marry the star, some drop on their knees and propose to him… and there are some who just want to get closer and hug him!
Surprisingly this week there is a contestant Manpreet Singh who came in with his sister Supreeet on the show. Manpreet from Kolkata looked like Salman's mirror image (sans the muscles) and wanted to ape the star but his sister chose to tie a rakhi instead.
When Supreet told Salman that she was going to tie him a rakhi, Salman said, "I already have 2 sisters". Supreet wasn't easily going to give up, she instead and told him, "Itna accha mauka toh mein nahin jaane dungi, aapko toh bhai banake hi chhodungi" (I wont let this chance go and will definitely make you my brother).
And Supreet finally did get her way with the star.

The popular Doordarshan soap Kashmakash Zindagi Ki has created a history of sorts on the national network by completing 300 episodes.
Says producer Ashok Wadhwa, "The biggest USP of our serial is its sensitive treatment and depiction of the animosity between the female protagonists and how this animosity has its own impact on the personal as well as the professional relationships between the various members in the family."
The serial boasts of an impressive star cast comprising of Sudha Chandran, Deepshikha, Kishwar Merchant, Anang Desai, Uttara Baokar, Snighda Pandey.
The subject of the serial revolves around two friends who are like sisters- Mandira (Kishwar Merchant) and Aradhana (Deepshikha) and how their animosity triggers off a lot of drama and rift in the family, aided and abetted by Mandira's mother Devyani (Lata Haya) at whose hands Aradhana's father dies in an accident. Mandira's father Rajdeep (Anang Desai) adopts Aradhana and brings her to his house and brings up both Mandira and Aradhana as his own daughters.
Kashmakash Zindagi Ki airs every day from Monday to Friday at 1.30 pm.

Once upon a time Amitabh Bachchan had the total copyright over the anger matters. Later on heroes like Sunny Deol and Ajay Devgan shared few bits of the losing control.
On screen sweeties like Salman and Chichi have even created off screen hunguma either by knocking ladies’ doors or by slapping news guys. But sweet babies ire-ing and firing in the industry is quite an offbeat catch.
Though hard to believe but it’s true that it hardly takes few seconds to ignite anger in Priety. We all are aware of this tamed lioness’ angry side. Once this pretty actress gets angry then she is not the one who would back out from the fight.
Recently producer Tito Juneja’s son Sonny Juneja had to face the storm from this lady when he dared to throw comment on Priety’s acting capabilities while she was dubbing for Tito’s film Har Pal.
Priety got so bugged up with the continuous comments from Sonny that she decided to quit dubbing session and took a seat in a nearby park.
In the end director Jahnu Barua had to arrive on the sets to convince the angry actress for resuming the dubbing.
Preity did so but only after Sonny was asked to leave the studio.
Whether reports of cold vibes between films cast Shiney Ahuja and Preity Zinta or Shiney’s balding problems, Har Pal has always been associated with these kinds of negative stories.
But as you say in Bollywood, negative or positive, B-town personalities always welcome free publicity. Maybe the uncontrollable anger fuming in the babe is just a part of that

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has expressed pained surprise at the contradictory reviews his latest film Sarkar Raj has elicited.
"One critic will trash a film and give very articulate and logical reasons. Fair enough, but the very next critic praises the film and will quote the very instances the earlier had mentioned, as being the reasons for its success," Amitabh wrote on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.
In reaction to this, film critic Ziya Us Salam said: "Every critic has his own readership; it is wrong to paint all critics with the same brush."
On being asked to react to Amitabh's statements, a few critics said the actor should not have been so aggressive while writing about them.
Amitabh also complained that the media did not appreciate the recent change in his demeanour.
He wrote: "When one is humble, the complaint is you do not open up, your interviews are so predictable, politically safe and correct. Now that there is no perceived humbleness the refrain is: why are you so aggressive?"
In response to this, Saurabh Tankha, a senior editor with a Delhi based daily, said: "Actors do not come and thank us when we do a positive review; then why should they feel bad when a negative review is done?"
The actor is evidently atached to the film that's a bit of a family affair - it stars him, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya. He wrote in his bog that he found the diversity of reviews intriguing.
Amitabh believes the media industry has an unwritten code of conduct.
"They will not attack competition and not name a fellow journalist even if he belongs to the same or a rival organisation. Of late though I find a greater openness, a willingness to criticise and a desire to counter an opinion or stand taken by another in the fraternity," the actor wrote.
In response to Amitabh's comment on how journalists would not attack one another, Tankha said: "It is a fact; that is the way it is; there is no need to be judgmental about it."
Ziya added: "Amitabh is right in saying that the media does not attack each other, we have a certain level of dignity, but I don't see any reason for him to react violently."

NOW SALMAN SHOWS BLOG KA DUM (1O KA DUM)

After Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, it’s now Salman Khan who has started his own blog.
Bollywood’s own naughty-baddy Sallu has jotted down some part of his true self and expressed his love towards his parents in his independent e-zone.
The actor has written, “My mother reminisces that I wouldn't leave her finger even when I was sleeping. It anchored me in childhood. Being close to her, helped drive away the demons.Today, I wish to tell my mother that I still hold her unseen finger.
It is nearness to her alone that sees me through all the rough times. My father tells me that I was mortally afraid of crossing the road.
I would wait and wait and cross the road only when there was no traffic. Dad, I want you to know that even today, I do not cross the limits and boundaries of relationships.
"Where Amitabh is using his blog to promote his upcoming film Sarkar Raj, Aamir promoting Ghajini and even spreading his tear tattering news about his accidents, it is quiet evident that following the path of his fellow actors Salman, too, is using the medium of blog to promote his much hyped reality show 10 Ka Dum.

It is not only the unit member but also the stars that religiously followed a vegetarian diet on the sets of Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam.It all started when Rahul, Paresh and Mallika learnt that producer Ratan Jain is vegetarian and did not like non-vegetarian dishes being ordered on the sets.
The actors respected Jain's feelings and turned vegetarians themselves. When the unit members learnt about it, they cooperated too.
Sanjay Chhel and Ratan Jain, who are strict vegetarians, still haven't got over the sensitivity that Rahul, Paresh and Mallika displayed by going vegetarian on the sets of Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam.
So it was an all veg fest on the sets of Maan Gaye…! Hats off to... or should we say Maan Gaye Rahul, Mallika and Paresh!
Do we see the PETA guys smiling happily after reading this piece of news? For sure!

It was Sanjay Gupta's niece Neha Uberoi's 23rd birthday on Thursday. And she was getting a birthday gift no 23-year old could hope for. A startling launch in Woodstock Villa where she plays the complex role of a kidnapped lonely wife who develops a relationship with her kidnapper.
Alas debut film's producer Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt.Obviously no one even remotely associated with Dutt's newly-launched production house showed up at the premiere on Thursday night.Neha's father Dharam Uberoi who used to work for Gupta's White Feather and is now closely associated with Dutt stayed away from the premiere. "There was no question of attending the premiere even if it was my daughter's big day. I've my
entire life to devote to her happiness and career. Yes, I regret I couldn't be there for her. But I've moved on.
I wish Mr Gupta all the best in life."Neha confused but excited tried to put up a brave face. "I don't even want to think about these things. I just want to concentrate on my premiere night and my career. As far as Woodstock Villa is concerned I've no complaints.I got a launch any newcomer would die for.
I play a kidnapped wife in my very first film. And I'm happy for the unconventional launch. I don't think the audience is interested in a new girl and boy holding hands and running across pristine meadows in slow motion.
Not that my launch is entire unconventional. I've four songs in Woodstock Villa. And I've my father and Mr Sanjay Dutt's expertise in the business to guide me. So no regrets at all.
"Not even for the fact that her rather-attractive voice was dubbed in her debut? "Well…that is rather unfortunate. But being dubbed is not a new experience film for me.
I've done two Telugu films where I couldn't speak my own lines. But I've dubbed for myself in my next film Hindi film EMI (which is produced by Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment) and in Soham Shah's Luck.
I leave for South Africa to shoot for Luck with Imran Khan (Aamir's nephew). So I've a lot to look forward to."As for bringing in her 23rd birthday Neha was a good girl all the way. "I brought it in with my family and retired early because I knew I had a big long night the following day for my premiere."

Main Tum Aur Hum (translates as: Me, you and us) is an Indian Bollywood movie, starring Kajol and Ajay Devgan, who also directs and has written the story. Aseem Prakash Bajaj is responsible for cinematography. As indicated by trailers, the film occurs on a cruise and is a love story. Filming started in April 2007.

The first time Ajay saw Pia, she served him drinks. She affected him more than the alcohol, and he found true love. He was a leading psychiatrist, but she messed up his mind. The first time Pia saw Ajay, he had too much to drink. She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind. Thus began the story of Ajay and Pia.

A love story, that begins at sea. Ajay is on a cruise with his friends Nikhil and Reena, unhappily married, and Vicky and Natasha, happily unmarried. Ajay is having a wonderful time dealing with martial strife, lots of bad language and huge hangovers, when he finds Pia, and time stands still. After a disastrous first meeting, Ajay tries everything to woo her. He wants her, by hook, crook or even her little private notebook. She's not an easy catch at all, but finally, by sheer perseverance, he dances his way into her heart. Ajay and Pia develop a strong and special bond. In each other, they find an anchor. But the tide goes against them.
Weighted down by lies and deceit, their boat is rocked, and their relationship drowns.
But even oceans cannot keep true love apart. Against better sense, Ajay waits for Pia.
In Pia's case, better case prevails, and she comes back to him. With no doubt in their minds about the way they feel for each other, they rush into marriage, despite the advice and failing relationships of their friends. Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. And Ajay Pia, love each other dearly, and their marriage flourishes, setting an example for their friends.
But no marriages can be complete without problems, and Ajay and Pia have also have to face hurdles, some of which seem insurmountable. We are taught in school how to do sums, how to read and write, and how to conduct scientific experiments, but what do we really know about the greatest social experiment of all, namely our ability to keep the love alive in our marriage, especially in the face of crises?
But even as things get much worse, and sometimes unsolvable, Ajay and Pia don't give up. They realize that marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner.
And Ajay and Pia are used to dancing together. So they battle all odds, and dance, and sometimes they fall. But every time they fall, they fall in love. And that's what a successful marriage requires. Falling in love many times, always with the same person.
This is the special love story of Ajay and Pia. There may be no monuments dedicated to them and perhaps their names will soon be forgotten. But in one respect they succeed as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: They've loved each other with all their heart and soul; and in life and marriage, this has always been enough.

Tusshar Kapoor is in a joyous mood, courtesy One Two Three which has managed to be a sweet little success. However, he is still found fuming. Reason? He is surprised by a tabloid report which recently reported that Bappa Lahiri, son of Bappi Lahiri, had been bundled off his home production C Kkompany, as the composer of the film.

“Who said that Bappa Lahiri is not more a part of C Kkompany? He is very much on and all of here are very happy with what he has done so far. I don’t know from where do such rumors originate from; it is irresponsible reporting.”

The reason stated around Bappa’s exit as a composer was that the production houses of neither Ekta Kapoor (Balaji Telefilms) nor Suneil Shetty (Popkorn Entertainment) were pleased with the tunes he had composed. Hence, it was exit Bappa and enter Anand Raaj Anand who was entrusted with the responsibility of coming up with a fresh soundtrack
“All untrue. Seriously, this just a false alarm and nothing else. Bappa is very much on board”, says Tusshar while standing up for the young composer.

Reports also indicate that Anand Raaj Anand was roped in as replacement composer. “Arrey yaar, he has been roped in but only for one song”, clarifies Tusshar, “Isn’t a trend to have an additional composer to step in so as to create a tune for a promotional music video? It’s the same case here as well. While the three tracks by Bappa form a part of the film, Anand Raaj Anand’s track would be for promotional purposes. Now we can’t help it if someone chooses to find anything controversial here.”

The whole of Bollywood has come to a sudden standstill with the most unexpected news that broke out today morning. Shomu Mukherjee, the proud father of bubbly and effervescent Kajol, father-in-law to Ajay Devgan and Tanuja’s husband passed away today morning.
Death could not have been stone-hearted to have taken away the man, when his darling daughter and son-in-law’s magnum opus film (U, Me Aur Hum) is just a day away from its gala release.
Hailing from a family headed by his father, Sashadhar Mukherjee (famously known as the founder of Filmistan studios), Shomu was the youngest of the three siblings, the other two being Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee.
While Joy and Deb were on to become actors; Shomu took the plunge to become a director and producer.
