The Double Platinum disc function of Pandurangadu, NBK's latest film, is held today at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad. Made on RK Film Associates banner, the film is produced by K. Krishna Mohan Rao and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. Paruchuri Brothers presided over the function The dignitaries present on the stage included hero Nandamuri Balakrishna, Dr. D. Ramanaidu, Imax Ramesh Prasad, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, MM Keeravani, SP Balasubramanyam, R. Narayana Murthy, B. Gopal, VV Vinayak, Sekhar Kammula, Krish (Gamyam director), Suddala Ashok Teja, Vedavyas, JK Bharavi, LB Sriram, Jayaram and others.
Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao speaking on this ocassion, said that though it was quite difficult to remake the classic Panduranga Mahatyam, hero Balakrishna could succeed in making the audiences remember the acting of his father late NTR. "There is absolute Teluguness in this film, and in its lyrics and music as well." Senior director Haranatha Rao said that those who believed in the sensuous part navel of a women and Padmanabhudu (the divine) will never get distressed in his career. "Actually, I was supposed to have directed Annamayya, but it was later taken over by K. Raghavendra Rao.
The songs in Pandurangadu are going to become classics for several generations to come." SP Balasubramanyam went emotional when he said: "I sang six songs in the film. I already told Raghavendra Rao to definitely invite me for all the functions related to Pandurangadu. However, I couldnt attend the audio release function of Pandurangadu, as I was away in Australia. I can dare say, Keeravani is the only director who would use absolute Telugu parameters when composing music for Telugu lyrics. Gone were the days, when films used to be running successfully based on fans and youth. For success of a film, we require all segments of the audiences." Prominently, SPB made an appeal to the music directors: "Please do not disappoint a lyricist or playback singer when they are given an assignment.
Mixing the output of each other is a bad culture." R. Narayanamurthy's speech was very energetic. "The film Pandurangadu is going to project a good message to those who neglect their parents by dumping them in old age homes. I like Balakrishna very much. He is of the nature akin to a child with instant emotions and no malice at heart." Hero Balakrishna said: "It is a great thing that the Pandurangadu music is celebrating its double platinum disc function with in ten days of its audio release at Machilipatnam. In all the films of my father (late NTR), there used to be threads of Hindu tradition and culture.
At a time when our lives are becoming too mechanical, the relevance of historical and mythological films with message embedded in them is need of the hour. I am doing dual roles as baktha and lord himself in this film and I am confident that the film would become a great hit. Raghavendra Rao's directing is superb. I give word to you all that till the last breath of my life and till the last drop of my blood is shed, I will continue to act." NBK further appreciated the team work of the entire cast and crew in the film.
